This and the other small parts in this valley are located on the other side of a ridge from the rest of the wreckage, and in a different burn. This may suggest that they were ripped off when the Hudson clipped the ridge; the rest of the aircraft carrying on and crashing on the other side. As can be seen, the wingtip has been almost buried and crushed by rocks carried down by the burn.
